Soña means dream in Papiamentu, the language of my home island.
 

Love has always felt like that to me: dreamy, fleeting and a little crazy. It's completely mad if you think about it: two people saying, this is my person, I choose them, every single day, for the rest of our lives. ​​

One afternoon I found myself in my favourite café in Lisboa, editing wedding photos for a friend. I was 31, recently single and completely lost, when I had the idea to launch this business.

I had attended 5 weddings that year and struggled to think of a gift for all of them. So I brought my film camera and captured the day in a way that any friend would. I focused on the in-between, behind-the-scenes moments and stayed close to my friends. I loved shooting on film for the old-school, nostalgic vibe combined with iPhone for ease and immediacy. The shots were unexpected, almost like moments you forgot happened or didn't have the words for, and brought tears to my friends' eyes.

Soña is my way of holding onto the dream of finding true love and telling the story of a day as it actually felt, and not just how it looked. Weddings are the start of a dream, are filled with hope and so many beautiful moments. I hope to capture your day in a way that makes you feel everything twice and reminds you of the dream you lived.
